Scheduled
[VPS] PHP End Of Life for version 7.3.

On November 17, 2021, Pagely Engineers will modify the version of PHP that maps to the "Sunset" version preference within each App's settings in Atomic. PHP 7.3 will be sunsetted and PHP 7.4 will become the new "Sunset" version. Pagely will not be changing your version preference from "Sunset" to "Stable". The version that "Sunset" maps to will become 7.4 instead of 7.3

WE RECOMMEND CUSTOMERS SELF-ELECT THE UPGRADE TO "STABLE" (7.4) BEFORE THIS MAINTENANCE OCCURS

Pagely recommends all VPS customers to make the switch to the "Stable" (currently 7.4) PHP version preference for all apps prior to November 17, 2021. With just a few clicks, you can upgrade to PHP 7.4 and remain on the "Stable" preference, which is generally a version that still receives active updates from the maintainers of PHP. If you switch to "Stable" or are already using "Stable" on all your apps, this maintenance will not apply to you.

Please see our help article for more details on changing your PHP version: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000013092-Changing-PHP-Versions

This event on November 17 will serve as an early test before the full PHP 7.3 end of life date of December 6, 2021. We want to ensure that WordPress applications that are currently set to the "Sunset" (7.3) PHP version will work correctly with PHP 7.4, and if not, then there will still be a little time left to switch back to 7.3 and address any potential issues. Depending on how our testing goes, we may roll "Sunset" back to 7.3 until December 6, 2021, but we are planning to keep it on 7.4 on November 17 if our testing looks good. This will occur over a 36 hour period, but we will be working with small sample sets, aim to perform the work at off-peak times relative to each Hosting Region, and downtime will be extremely minimal (less than 2 minutes, usually only 30 seconds, per app). We will test each application before/after the version changes and we will roll back to 7.3 if any issues are encountered. Once again, we recommend upgrading to "Stable" ahead of time in order to bypass this maintenance.

If you require assistance in testing your site for compatibility with PHP 7.4 before switching to "Stable" in Atomic, you are welcome to contact our Support Team 24/7 for a helping hand.

Note for Legacy Shared Customers: All shared sites are already using PHP 7.4 and are not part of this maintenance.
