Pagely Engineers will be performing database engine upgrades for RDS instances located in the Virginia Region. This is a routine task which provides bug fixes and performance improvements, as well as enabling access to Amazon RDS Performance Insights Dashboards which helps our teams identify performance bottlenecks in your site code-base.
This is a very low-risk change. During the engine upgrade, all cached content will continue to serve normally. The upgrade process is performed using Amazon's "online" patching system, which is generally very seamless and only takes 5-10 minutes to complete. However, it is possible for dynamic content to experience very brief and self-resolving moments of inability to connect to a database endpoint. Should any problems be detected, Pagely Engineers will work to resolve things as quickly as possible.
