Scheduled
Pagely Engineers will be performing PHP Lifecycle Management for all websites that are currently still configured to use PHP 7.4. For more information on how you can view or manage your PHP version preferences, you may check our help guide: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000013092-Changing-PHP-Versions

On April 26, 2023 all PHP 7.4 apps will be upgraded to use PHP 8.0. Excluding any compatibility issues that may arise, the impact to website availability will be very brief - less than 2 minutes per app - while the version change is being applied.
PHP 7.4 reached full End Of Life on November 28, 2022 and is no longer receiving security updates. We understand that this change might not be occurring at a convenient time, but we must follow the schedule imposed by php.net in order to keep your web properties secure. PHP 8.0 is still supported through November 26, 2023.
More information on the PHP Supported Versions schedule can be found at this link: https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php

As a proactive measure, we have scanned all apps and identified the ones that will have compatibility problems. We've reached out to customers with incompatible apps over the last 30 days to help ensure the most problematic sites receive ample time to remediate. Customers operating multiple WordPress applications on Pagely may have a mix of compatible and incompatible apps. Our platform allows running each one under a different version for your convenience.

As with any software upgrade, there is a chance of unforeseen compatibility problems that did not surface during our own testing. Our testing is designed to identify hard failures where the code cannot execute at all. Other, more subtle compatibility problems could still occur when the upgrade to PHP 8.0 is applied, where only certain components are not functioning correctly or new non-fatal warning messages appear. If you experience these kinds of issues after the upgrade, please contact Pagely Support for assistance: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/114094215332-Contacting-Support

To bypass this maintenance and get the upgrade to PHP 8.0 early, we recommend changing the version yourself in Atomic. It is recommended to first test the change on a non-production copy of the app. This article provides steps on creating a staging environment if you do not already have one: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001622571-Creating-a-Staging-Environment

Thank you for your understanding and do not hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions or concerns. We're here to help!
