PHP Lifecycle Maintenance - VPS

Scheduled for Nov 4, 00:00 UTC  -  Nov 7, 00:00 UTC

Scheduled

Pagely engineers will be performing PHP lifecycle management for all apps currently set to use PHP 8.1, or the "Stable" version label, in Atomic. For more information on how you can view or manage your PHP version preferences, check our help guide: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000013092-Changing-PHP-Versions

On November 4th-6th, 2025, the version corresponding to "Stable" in Atomic will change from 8.1 to 8.2. Your WordPress applications will automatically be upgraded to use PHP 8.2, which is supported through December 2026. Excluding any compatibility issues that may arise, the impact to website availability will be very brief - less than 2 minutes per app - while the version change is being applied.

PHP 8.1 will soon be end-of-life; this maintenance DOES include apps where "Do not automatically upgrade my PHP version" is set. Zend offers extended support for PHP 8.1. If your applications are not ready to be updated to PHP 8.2, you may contact Pagely support to add the Zend support add-on to your account. (An additional monthly fee applies for Zend support.)

As a proactive measure, we will be scanning all apps using PHP 8.1 or "Stable", and will send notifications to account owners in the next few days. Please take a moment to make sure the appropriate collaborators on your account are enabled to receive Maintenance alerts in Atomic: https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/360058630471-Configuring-Account-Activity-Alerts

While our pre-scanning will detect many issues, every site is unique, and we cannot anticipate all possible errors. We encourage all customers to review their applications, and to switch them manually to a newer version of PHP in advance of this maintenance window. We recommend you test on a non-production copy of your site; for details on creating a staging site, review https://support.pagely.com/hc/en-us/articles/115001622571-Creating-a-Staging-Environment .

Thank you for your understanding and do not hesitate to reach out to our team with any questions or concerns. We're here to help!
